I'm planning to install Proxmox VE in a single i7-3770@3.4GHz cpu 32GB-ram appliance (no ram expandable).

Is it possible to suppose a performance comparision vs a dell R610 2x Xeon E5520@2.25GHz 96GB-ram or an old dell PE2950 2x Xeon L5420@2.50GHz 32GB-ram both running ESXi ?

Your thoughts ?

Thanks

Depends on what you're doing. There is no "default" answer.

If you e.g. run a heavily parallel task like solving a math problem with multiple cores, the Xeons will win. If you run a single threaded workload, your i7 will win due to the better single core performance.

Thanks
I'm planning to run an openmediavault instance and a VoIP pbx
I suppose there shouldn't be issues....
