[SOLVED] PBS freeze

Hello,

I discovered this beta a few days ago. While testing, I encountered a strange behavior: the server froze, I was just running a single backup task from another PVE: black screen without network, display, keyboard. I can't find anything related in /var/log/. Hardware reboot made the system up and running again.

My setup is PVE 6.2 on ZFS without running VM or CT, PBS was installed on the host itself with apt. Scenario : PBS added on another PVE (remote). I was able to backup several times (small CTs), for this one (180GB) the backup lasted approx. after 1 hour

Are you aware of such troubles ? Where can I dig to avoid this ?

sorry for the late reply. Did the issue ever happen again? Is it still present with the most recent version of PBS?

No, I did not get such fatal error, but never understood what was wrong. Upgraded to 0.9-7 then 1.0, but I'm not really confident in this setup (host=PVE). Maybe I should stick to PBS as host ?

It is not recommended to install it on PVE, but it is possible. It's hard to tell if the problem really was caused by that, but if you can, I'd suggest installing it as a separate host.

If there were no logs, I'd guess it was something low level (either hardware or a really bad kernel failure). It's good to hear that it didn't happen again.
