PBS do not seems to use the email from address

Like the title said,
PBS do not seems to use the email from address state in the UI.
instead seems to use root@<hostname-fqdn>

Anyway to fix that

works here, i changed the from address under 'Configuration -> Other' and the next email i got was from that address...
which e-mails are we talking about specifically?

This morning i receive a mail for GC
I think the mail i still seeing in the log rejected are the mail from spool before i change the from address
do not seems to have easy way to test like in pve. (or i am not aware)

Must be something i dont get ....
i had 2 backups done this AM and receive only 1 email from GC but i set all option for Notify to Always (
and "Verify new backups immediately after completion" to Yes

The log of PBS do not show any reject, since the relais accept them all
but i can clearly see (obviously edited)

the log of my SMTP is the one showing the reject with a

Sender verify failed

the FQDN of my pbs is internal DNS

Edit : i can see the log from the mail from this morning with the address i enter in the UI

Hi, i'm facing a similar issue, but only for the emails generated from the PBS (i.e. verification of datastore).
I can't find the same option I've on PVE (Datacenter > Option > Email from address) as you told in this post, message #2.

If i go into the Configuration tab I only have 2 pages, which are Network/Time or Authentication, and there I don't have any similar option.

I am experiencing the same issues.
Email from is set to pbs@domain.tld under Configuration>Other>Email from address but log shows email from as root@pbs.domain.tld

The mail I get and which cannot be delivered has subject "Verify Datastore '<my-datastore>' successful"

The from-address used for the mail is "Proxmox Backup Server - proxmox-backup-server <root@<my-hostname>>"

The from-address configured in /etc/proxmox-backup/notifications.cfg is different.

Got it to work:

in the PBS UI: open the datastore > Options.
Change notification mode to "Notification system".
