Current setup. Proxmox server (SSD) running TrueNAS Scale with HBA passthrough of 4x8TB of disk in RaidZ2 config. Separate Debian baremetal server running rsync with 1x8TB disk to backup TrueNAS (not big enough, but working on that). I have an SSD for the Debian Server and want to run PBS there for the PVE. Question is TrueNAS. I could:
1) Install PBS on the Debian server. Not recommended I'm told but I could keep the rsync and backup the PVE
2) Change Debian to PBS bare metal and backup the PVE. How to deal with TrueNAS then.
Questions:
a) Can I run rsync separately on PBS? It's Debian underneath so it should(??) be able to do that, thus backing-up TrueNAS and getting good PVM backup
b) I could try backup-client on TrueNAS Scale but it would be to a disk, not SSD, so not very efficient.
Am I missing something? Bit new to this so any help appreciated. I've looked quite a bit and can't quite find answers to this question
