PBS 4.2 No Subscription Repository on a PVE 9.1 server with Enterprise Repository

Hello,

I have a PVE 9.1 server with PBS 4.1 installed on it. The PVE server has an Enterprise Subscription but the PBS server does not. I see that PBS 4.2 has Kernel 7.0.0-3, while the PVE 9.1 repository is still pointing to kernel 6.17.

If I upgrade to PBS 4.2 will Kernel 7.0 get installed? If so is that bad? And if it's bad, how do I prevent that from happening?

Thanks,
Daniel

Are PVE and PBS installed on the same host?
If so, that setup is generally not recommended, and it may also fall outside what is normally expected to be covered under PVE subscription support.

At the moment, kernel 7.0 is not yet available in the PVE enterprise repository, while it is already available in the no-subscription repository.
For PBS 4.2, kernel 7.0 should be the default in both the enterprise and no-subscription repositories.

That said, I would not assume this necessarily causes an immediate issue.
Still, if PVE enterprise and PBS no-subscription are mixed on the same host, the package and kernel behavior may be outside the combinations normally validated for the enterprise repository, so I am not sure that specific scenario has been fully tested.

Even so, there is probably no need to rush the update.
It may be safer to wait until kernel 7.0 becomes available on the PVE side as well.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes they are both installed in the host.

I understand it's not a recommended setup, which is one reason I'm asking about it.

From your answer, I think I'll just wait for PVE Enterprise repository to offer the 7.0 kernel before updating the server.
