Hello,

I am running Backup Server 3.1-4 and looking for a way to get email notifications when package updates are available - similar to how it works in VE. I have searched and can't seem to find anything. Seems like I have to log on every once in awhile and manually check for and apply updates. I do get email notifications on prune and garbage collections jobs.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

well...

I ran dpkg -s apt-listchanges on my Proxmox backup server and it is installed. Now what?

Package: apt-listchanges
Status: install ok installed

Thanks for the reply. However I am still confused. Using Proxmox notifications how can it be configured to notify when there are new PBS updates available. Sorry if I am missing something simple

Thanks for the additional information. I have configured my primary PBS server as you outlined. Now to wait for some updates and see if I get an email!

Thanks again,

I'm on 3.2-7 and in Notifications --> Notification Matcher --> Add --> (fill out required fields) --> Match Rules --> Field: notification type --> Value: package-updates. Haven't tested this, so you might have to mess around with settings. More info linked in the docs below.

https://pbs.proxmox.com/docs/notifications.html#notification-matchers

I configured as you suggested. UPdates were available this morning but no email. Did see this in the docs "The daily task checking for any available system updates only sends notifications if the node has an active subscription."

HI all,

is there really no way to get system update notifications if one has not an active subscription? Backup notifications work fine here.

I found this thread and we do have a PBS subscription. We get updates for all the cluster hosts after applying the subscription keys but not for PBS. The match rule I think is default, set to prune or severity=info, and other/test emails work.
