[SOLVED] Owner backup failure user@pbs != root@pam

I have 2 PBS storages mounted in a Proxmox cluster. I want to backup specific VM's to the second PBS storage. Both have datastore/backup as location (but with different storage mount in PVE cluster) and user@pbs has rights on datastore/backup.

PBS -> root@pam on datastore/backup
UserPBS -> user@pbs datastore/backup

Backups on PBS works, but when I start a new backup to UserPBS, I get the error "backup owner check failed (user@pbs != root@pam)". The owner must be changed, but where exactly?

Both PVE Storages are pointed at the same PBS Datastore. When the Backup was first created, it was created with the user root@pam (because you did the backup to the PBS storage). When you want to create another backup to the UserPBS storage, it detects there already is a backup on that datastore for that VM but this backup belongs to the user root@pam, I cannot modify backups that are not owned by me.

You'd need to create another Datastore that is used by UserPBS to do this.

Ok, that explains why. So normally each datastore has his own disk. Can I create multiple datastores on one disk?

Yes you can do that. The datastore just points to a directory. I don't know how exactly you set up your first datastore. Is it zfs? if yes, you can just create another dataset on that zpool and point a datastore to it.

If it is something else, you will have to see if you can create another folder at the same "level" of your existing datastore and point a new datastore to that
