Hello there,

I would like some help from you to finally set-up my Proxmox Server.

Everything starts 1-2 months ago that I decide to make a server and run some VMs inside.

------------------------------

I learn about the Proxmox.
I Install the Proxmox.
Trying to do a GPU Passthrough to run my CAD software (Done - I am very happy for this).
Understand how I can manage the storage ( I need some reading about this )
Successfully run my VMs with the help of the RDP from my laptop ( inside my local network ) - Using NOMACHINE for the Linux ones.

------------------------------

So,

I would like to use my VMs through the Internet. Basically one of my VMs (for now).

I search online and trying to find a user friendly solution for this.

I start with the ANYDESK and TEAMVIEWER but for some reason the connection is very bad and it is impossible to make a task on the PC.

I found that many people use VPN for the RDP. So, I try to different software the ZeroTier and the Hamachi.

------------------------------

With ZeroTier I have no luck to made this work. I setup the network connect to the network but I was unable to connect with the RDP.

Now I use the Hamachi. With this software I am able to connect to my VM from the Internet and not the local network with RDP and easily do work on my VM with CAD software .

The problem is that the free Hamachi closed when a user logout from the computer and you can't to disconnect from local network and connect from the Internet ( for me my smartphone's mobile data 4G ) . You should make this change very very quickly.

I treat it with a script .bat I found online and now I am able to connect to the Hamachi VLAN.

------------------------------

The problem is that yesterday night I let the VM open. In the morning I was try to connect to my VM from the Internet but for a reason Hamachi was closed (but the VM has a logged in user ) and again I should to connect to the VM from the local network -start- the Hamachi and re-connect from the Internet.

------------------------------

The basic question is "There is any option to use the Windows RDP through the Internet every time I want?"

Sorry for my English.

Thank you for your time.

Zerotier works Great for us to have private network over Internet for 30+ users accessing 10+users accessing office-desktop in this pandemic , including accessing VM on Proxmox too. with combination of RDP & VNC Server on Desktop.

opnsense with wireguard, or use a debian based system and install pivpn (wireguard) on it.

Alternatively you may run a guacamole instance and users can access the server via html5. be sure to "hide" the subfolder for the interface or go with a wildcard cert and dns entry and a random character subdomain.

You can use the nomachine to acces the remote desktop and pass the port 4000 from the router to the vm. Nomachine will try to it by itself, if upnp is enabled at the router. In this case no need to use VPN, because NX is a secure protocol by itself.
