Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advice on how to get the most performance out of my hardware. I have a Lenovo ST250 with a RAID 530-8i controller (flashing to IT mode is not an option). My disk setup is as follows:
1. 1x Intel 4520 M.2 SATA SSD (480GB)
2. 4x SAS 10K 12Gbps (900GB)
3. 2x SAS 10K 6Gbps (600GB)
4. 2x SAS 10K 12Gbps (2.4TB)
I’ve read about moving SLOG and metadata to SSD for better performance, but I don’t fully understand how to implement this properly.
My main questions:
1. How should I set up Proxmox? Should I install it on the SSD, or would it be better to use ZFS mirror on the two 600GB SAS drives?
2. I don't need to use all these drives. In fact, a RAID10 with the 900GB disks would be sufficient.
What is the best way to configure storage for maximum performance?
3. Should I use ZFS, RAID, or another approach? Any specific tuning recommendations?
Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
