opnsense not working on proxmox, but works flawlessly on bare metal

As title says, there is a high chance my opnsense installation doesn't work on proxmox, but it randomly DOES work when it wants to. From my knowledge, there is no change in configuration when it does work vs not working. I use Minisforum NAB5, install proxmox, add a second network bridge for the second ethernet port, install opnsense (without running it), add second bridge to opnsense, and run it. Is there any setting I can change to increase the likelihood that opnsense will work? proxmox 7.4-1 and 8.3-0 network chip: intel i225-v

Edit: I realize now this was vague. On proxmox, opnsense sees the IP address of the WAN and LAN, but doesn't give Internet access or webui access to the network. The LAN port is plugged into a network switch. Plugging directly into the LAN port seems to solve both issues, but I have more than one device that needs Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. The proxmox webui only works when connected to the network switch.

Would you like to elaborate on the details of "not working", like is it failing to start or not recognizing network adapters or gui not available or ...?
If it is not starting, what is the content of the error message/log?
