Another openwrt and proxmox question. I read a lot of the threads here on the forum but I just can't seem to figure it out. Maybe I'm not looking in the right direction or I just keep missing one essential part, anyway I hope you people can get me into the right direction.

Right now, I have a a fiber optic internet connection from my ISP. There's also a modem/router. I do not use it more then pass internet through to my own TPLink Deco M5 router. There is no bridge function in the ISP modem, but I can put the Deco M5 ip address in a dmz so as far as I know, it then works the same as bridge funtion. My Deco M5 is configured as DHCP server for the whole network. No VLANs at the moment.

I have a dell optiplex 3050 with proxmox installed on it. It has an IP address from my Deco, not from the ISP router. On it I installed OpenWRT. It works so far. I can access OpenWrt, I can even install Adguard on it, and send traffic to it by changing the DNS server in the Deco to the OpenWRT one. All on the same bridge as Proxmox uses VMBR0. The machine has a second nic I configured as VMBR1.

Now what I would like is to setup OpenWRT as a (VPN) gateway to the internet for my devices. Preferably I'd still like the Deco to do the DHCP, but if that's not possible it's okay. In OpenWRT I configured VMBR1 to be WAN and connected it to the ISP router. It get's an ip address. Then I thought I'd connect VMBR0 directly to the wan port of de Deco M5....nothing no internet what so ever. What am I doing wrong? Isn't my setup right?

Btw the image is the current situation, without OpenWRT as gateway.
