OpenVZ container, is it possible upgrade from lenny to sid?

Hi, forgive my ignorance, but can I create a Lenny OpenVZ container, then change sources.list, set for Sid, and then aptitude dist-upgrade?
Or the fact that OpenVZ uses the host kernel, or other things I'm not aware of, prevents this?
