Ok in 5.x I was using openvswitch and vlans with no issues. After upgrading my tagged vlans stopped working. I set up interfaces that tag with vlan id in a couple of VM's. Now when I switch to linux bridge vlan aware everything works as expected. What changed in vs 6 that vlans would stop working after upgrading?

Could be related to https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2296 . If booting kerrnel 4.15.18-NN-pve fixes your OVS issues without a configuration change, add your case to the bug.
EDIT: Another thought, also compare the dmesg output from booting the 5.0.x kernel with the 4.15.x kernel and see if your network interfaces are "renamed" differently (or not at all).
