Open-VM Tools

Hi,

I'm testing the Proxmox Mail Gateway and installled the first time on VMware vSphere 6.7. After reboot system is running and can reached over port 8006.

At vSphere it Shows 'VMware Tools: Not running, not installed' but the feature list says 'open-vm tools are integrated in the ISO'.

Trying to install the tools via apt-get install shows something like 'package open-vm-tools is not available but is referred to by another package'.

Whats wrong?

As I wrote this do not work.

sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools

Do not install the tools and shows 'package open-vm-tools is not available but is referred to by another package'. On the other hand the feature list says 'open-vm tools are integrated in the ISO'?

That is the solution!

After make a apt Update first the install open-vm-tools is working. Without the update apt can not install the open-vm-tools and get this message:

Package open-vm-tools is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

Glad you could solve it.

And yes, after an initial installation (of any Debian derivative actually) you need to update the package index once so that apt knows where to pull new packages from. :)
