Open Nebula VS Proxmox

Hi All,

We have set up a new HPC and the HW / Software provided suggested using Open nebula as a virtualization environment so we can public services.

Has any of you had any experience working on a proxmox in an HPC environment?

We would like to be able to "divide" GPUS into smaller pieces so the researchers could use a smal part of the GPU, is that possible using proxmox?

How does proxmox work with GPFS?

Any suggestions / ideas are more than welcome

The way to accomplish this is the same as with any other kvm based hypervisor. You need to use a GPU that can be bifurcated and a license. see https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/vgpu-software-driver/ and/or https://www.amd.com/en/graphics/workstation-virtual-graphics

How does proxmox work with GPFS?

Proxmox doesnt have any hooks into gpfs as it mostly focuses on open source. Having said that, nothing would prevent you from using a gpfs mount as a filestore based repository for proxmox use.

to add to what @alexskysilk said: Was there a reason they recommended ON? Does the software vendor have ON integration for automated deployment management and other tasks? If it does, then PVE set of APIs is completely different and may not be a direct fit.
