Hi everyone,

i had to recover a broken proxmox today (hardware issue with disks, combined with Murphy). When booting the 5.1 install cd in recovery mode, it show loading a ZFS 0.6.5 module, and refused to import my (proxmox 5.1 ZFS 0.7.2) pool; thankfully it was at least possible to import it in read-only mode.

Is there something obviously that i'm missing, or is there an outdated zfs-modul (or initrd or whatever, i still don't really understand how ZoL actually works ;)) on the CD for the recovery mode...?

Regards,

the rescue mode just loads and existing kernel and initramfs and bypasses the grub on disk - maybe it loads an old one from before you upgraded to 5.1?

Ah, yes, that is possible (one of my disks "died" and fell out of the zpool a few weeks earlier, it was just the controller-port that had somehow crashed, which also didnt work after several reboots, but came back after a hardware powercycle), guess murphy again, so it probably loaded the kernel/initrd from the old disk, but after that tried to import the pool of the newer disk... Duh...

Thanks for clearing that up!
