Hi,

I've got a weird thing going on, the back-ups of my VM's and containers are scheduled for every sunday at 01:00.
The backups are stored at my NAS (synology)
Every sunday around this time, i receive an email from synology that there is no connection with my synology. and that i should check my internet. After a time i receive an email that the connection has restored.

Today, i did a manual backup because i was going to upgrade some VM's.
Then i had no internet connection on my PCs, Phones etc.

It looks like my whole internet connection stops during a backup. How is this possible? Does anyone else had this problem?
I've got some Unifi equipment (USG, ROUTERS ETC)

Do you run some virtualized network infrastructure? Maybe a Pihole or something similar? So those services will stop working while backing them up?

Did you try to ping the router and the internet while a backup is running?

Is the backup traffic using the same wire (or WLAN or...) as your other connection?

To over-commit / saturate a single wire might be easier than thought. Then a web-browser might feel just unusable.

This is just one possible reason of course...

Did you ever figure out what was causing the issue? I’m experiencing something similar, but the UniFi logs don’t provide any useful information about the cause.

In my specific setup, I have a PVE running on a server and a Proxmox Backup Server (in a VM on Synology). Both devices are connected via a UniFi Switch Pro 48. During scheduled backups, local network connectivity and internet access become unstable, and SNMP monitoring of the UniFi Switch also shows instability. In Unifi, I also get next message: "USW Pro 48 Port 43 is experiencing a large amount of dropped traffic. This may indicate misconfigured port VLAN membership, traffic congestion, or changes in STP states. " The port in the message often changes. I've set up a rate limitation in PBS, but that has no effect on the issue. The backups always complete successfully.
