hi all,

my mini pc thats hosting pve has got a sound card in it

Code:
root@pve:~# lspci | grep Audio
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-S HD Audio Controller (rev 11)

then when i go on the pve web gui ive added the audio device but what one do i choose from

audio device - AC97/intel-hda/ich9-intel-hda
backend driver - none (dummy device)/spice

ive tried AC97 and spice but when i do
Code:
pulseaudio --version
from this website

https://github.com/neutrinolabs/pulseaudio-module-xrdp/wiki/Build-on-other-distro

i get command not found

Thanks,
Rob

mmm... i want to install pulseaudio but it says pipewire-pulseaudio is already installed, shall i remove this as that how to is for pulseaudio only

Passing the audio through to the host itself does not work out of the box currently. The "none" backend is there to just quickly have a sound card in the VM. The "spice" backend is there for the Spice remote console and needs the display also set to it.

Current Qemu 8.1 (by accident it matches the latest Proxmox VE version) got a new Pulseaudio backend. With custom args in the VM config, you might be able to get it working.
