i've installed new Ubuntu 14.04 as KVM guest. When i click shutdown in the Proxmox Webinterface, Ubuntu ask me what i would like to do and the guest does not shutdown. Is there a new special configuration?
It works with lubuntu-14.04. Maybe look into default settings for handling various events like pressing power button etc. It could very well be that default automatic shutdown behavior is standby mode or something else which fails.
Interessting thing. I tested an xubuntu Desktop and it works out of the box. So I'am little bit confused, because xubuntu use also lightdm. The next thing is, older Ubuntu 12.04 Installations at customer have the same problem, shutdown over proxmox does not work anymore. Same like 14.04, so i think there installed same new features I've tested some workarounds:
KDM --> Shutdown works out of the box, but when i would like to login in Unity i get only a blank screen...
GDM --> same problem
Another workaround is to set shutdownoption with gnome tweak. But what I'am triying to test, alway an user must still login.... i don't know what is here really the problem.
I've tested this mit plain KVM on an Gentoo. Same results. Same results also with CentOS as guest in Version 6, Version 7 not tested.
