Hi All,

Im building a homelab.

My system specs are:
AMD Ryzen 3 3200g CPU
A320M-H Mainboard
32 GB DRR4 RAM
1 x 128 GB SATA HDD (BRTFS)
1 x 1 TB SATA HDD (EXT4)

I want to install proxmox in the 128GB HDD and use the 1TB HDD as base for storage.

However, the 1TB HDD already has data which I dont want to lose.

Can I create the storage in 1TB SATA HDD without formatting it ?

Thanks!

Anand

Hi,
However, the 1TB HDD already has data which I dont want to lose.
With what filesystem is it formatted now? I.e., what does lsblk -f outputs?

Can I create the storage in 1TB SATA HDD without formatting it ?
If it is formatted with a filesystem which our Linux Kernel (or user space implementations) can understand, then yes.
Check out, for example, the following Arch Wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fstab for some more details.

You'd basically add a mount entry to /etc/fstab for that HDD and mount it somewhere, e.g., /mnt/hdd, then you could add that, or a subpath of that, as directory storage entry to Proxmox VE (in Datacenter -> Storage, not on Node).

Hi Thomas!

Thanks for your response.

The 1TB drive is EXT4. I normally use fedora linux so all my HDD are EXT4

OK, then it should work for sure.
As said, configure the system so that the HDD is mounted somewhere, then add it as directory storage entry to PVE.

Hello,

Is there a way to copy an ISO directly into the server through backend (SFTP/SCP) instead of the web portal ?

Yes, Proxmox doesn't care how you uploaded the ISOs as long as the files are in the right folder and accessible.

Hi All,

Currently trying GPU Passthough to Windows 10 Pro VM. Does proxmox support AMD Ryzen 3 3200G APU ?
Ive added PCI Device (hostpci0) as "07:00,pcie=1.x-vga=1"
The VM doesnt want to start and crashes the host VE.
