Hi,
We are looking at switching over from VMWare ESXi to proxmox as we currently have 3 essential plus clusters (9 total hosts) and the licensing cost to go from essentials plus to standard is eye watering! (We will be buying support from proxmox for both hosts and backup servers)
We are also looking at adding in additional storage
Currently we have a HPE MSA doing iscsi targets to the current clusters (different targets for each cluster)
We are looking at adding in a new MSA to give us better storage with tiering, so will be able to move everything slowly off the old MSA to the new one, and then add in the old one as additional storage to the cluster
All the servers will be connected to the MSA's via dual 10GB connectivity via 2 independent switches (on independant vlans) and the storage from the MSAs (18TB from new, 10TB from old) will be presented to the hosts via iscsi
The proxmox hosts themselves will be connected to the network via 10GB and have their own 1GB connection for the clustering
We will be also adding in 2 proxmox backup servers, 1 local and one remote with bulk storage to both of these provided to those via a 64TB qnap connected to the backup servers via 10GB
Does this sound like a sane and scalable setup, I have read issues about snapshots and iscsi and was wondering if I needed to look at a different storage solution?
Many thanks for any help you can give me
