I just upgraded my ram in the box im running PROXMOX 1.9 on to 8 Gig. Post and BIOS show the 8 Gig but once everything boots up I login and do "free -m" it is only showing 5.966 Gig. Any thoughts and thanks in advanced.

any integrated graphic card consuming memory? you run a desktop mainboard?

"Please can you post the full output of 'free -m'?"

total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 5966 1910 4055 0 31 57

no onboard video and yes its just a desktop mobo that can handle up to 16 gig of ram

The bios picks up all 8gigs of ram...just once PROXMOX boots up it just recognizes 5.966

****Edit*** Also the mobo is
GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4

So booted from the live CD and it shows 5.988 for the total.

Thanks for the help

Its something with Debian I am thinking. I booted off a Fedora live cd and it finds all the 8gig of ram.
