I am new to Proxmox, I am looking to migrate to a Proxmox host in the coming weeks, just looking to source some suitable hardware, looking to be a Dell server I think as I want to run 10 VM's a mix of Linux and Windows to get away from having multiple PC's running the tasks they do and just power the 1 server at home for it.

Is there anything I need to be aware of, looking at hardware raid and up to 128GB of ram, storage was planning Raid0 the host and Raid10 storage and put the VM's on that.

I am farmiliar with VMware so hope it's not too different, my only question is I want to pass through a dongle plugged in via USB to a host, will I run into any issues here with the OS?

Anything that could catch me out, if all goes well with my home setup I may plan on doing more, wish me luck!

You are looking to build a new system, right? Then this is the moment to upgrade to ZFS and skipping hardware Raid. Some features you'll get: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/f...y-a-few-disks-should-i-use-zfs-at-all.160037/

It should work: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#qm_usb_passthrough
