Folowing a 3 week struggle i was succesfull to get my gifted HP ml350 g6 on which i installed with E
sxi 6.7 and the Home assistant OS. and OPNsense, all went well

In Configuring HAOS I have come to realize that i can only add 1 USB as passthrough to the HAVM..... Bummer.

This for me has become a big issue.

Although i am currenly only running z-wave using an AEOTEC usb, i will need to add an additional usb to connect zigbee usb and a wifi usb to connect shelly and tasmota (this wifi coudl be done via an AP)

After looking a several videos on youtube and reading many threads on the subject and I can only assume that with proxmox v7 i can add and passthrough multiple usbs to home assistant or to any other VM.

I’m i correct in this assumption can this be confirmed?

In addition will proxmox install and run correctly on the HP ML350 g6?
with:
1 CPU 5620
32 GB ram ( would increase the ram to 64gb)
one disk partition with 3 x146 GB SAS (for proxmox and the VM
one partition with 5 SAS disks for a total 1.2TB

Because if so I would also add a vm for OPNsense (it would be sufficient to passthrough the wifi form an AP to Home Assistant?)

Thank you in advance for all your help

There are a few reports in the forum, that the installation with the current PVE 7.2-ISO could be "not so straightforward" on some (older?) enterprise servers. There are workarounds; you might have to search the forum for.

I personally do not use USB-passthrough [1], so no experience; but in general it should be possible to passthrough multiple USB-devices [2].
How reliable it is, might be another thing...
Most reliability should probably be, to get a USB-controller card and PCIe-passthrough [3] it to the VM. (Might also be an option for your current ESXi-installation.)

PS.: General recommendation: Make sure, all the firmwares are as up-to-date as possible on this really old machine.

BTW: Wrong forum. ;)

Thank you for your reply is there an older vewrsion of proxmox that would be less problematic?

It is not an issue with the hardware it is ESXI that will not allow multiple usb to be passed through ( i did and try this but no joy)

Firmware is up to date on all my servers

why wrong forum is this forum not manned by proxmox gurus?

From what I read, 7.1 should be:

Idea was to get a USB-controller card and pass this through (I assume, that ESXi also supports PCIe-passthrough?). With the whole (physical) USB-controller inside the VM, you could attach as many devices as the USB-specifications allow to it without relying on the ESXi-capabilities at all. ;)

I meant the category/sub-forum. Currently your thread is in the "Mail Gateway" sub-forum, instead of the "Proxmox VE" one. :)
