Dear all,

We are actually changing our architecture to add virtualization and one of your reseller recommend us Proxmox but I have a question.

We are planning to install a FC SAN (promise Vtrack) with Qlogic FC card, Is there any limitation with fiber channels ? did I need specific driver to use KVM or OpenVz with FC ?

Best regards

Laurent

Qlogic FC is supported out of the box on proxmox kernel:

  • The qla2xxx driver for QLogic Fibre Channel HBAs has been updated to version 8.04.00.04.06.4-k, which adds support for QLogic's 83XX Converged Network Adapter (CNA), 16 GBps FC support for QLogic adapters, and new Form Factor CNA for HP ProLiant servers.
  • The qla4xxxx driver has been updated to version v5.03.00.00.06.04-k0, which adds change_queue_depth API support, fixes a number of bugs, and introduces various enhancements.
  • The ql2400-firmware firmware for QLogic 4Gbps fibre channel HBA has been updated to version 5.08.00.

Hi,

Thanks for the fast answer.

just I saw in the promise SAN manual that they provide RPM (src rpm) for Multipathing and ALUA ( for Redhat 5.4 5.5 or SuSe 11).

I think I must also install such driver on Proxmox, so I must request debian package and not RPM but did you think that they is other limitation or issue with such driver and proxmox ?

Best regards

Laurent
