First of all, excellent software - for the best part it just worked out of the box.

However, I have run into some problems with networking (most likely due to the fact that I don't quite understand how the system uses networking).

This is what happens (this is the default setup):

On the Host:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:18:8B:06:85:87
tap1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:FF:C1:3C:52:B5
venet0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00
vmbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:18:8B:06:85:87

On guest 1 (RHEL4)
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:12:34:56

On guest 2 (RHEL5)
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:12:34:56

So when they go away to ask for an IP off our DHCP server (presumably this is what's happening), they both get the same IP.

Is there an easy way around this? The internal device (the one the guest sees) appears to be virtual, and not in any way related to the host, so presumably we can spoof this for a quick win somehow?

Cheers,
Frank

hi,

known bug: see this solution http://www.proxmox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=435

we already fixed this in the upcoming second beta

Woohoo! Thanks Tom! Note as well:

You may need to remove HWADDR lines in the guest's distribution:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Otherwise it freaks out and doesn't bring up the ethernet device with this error:

ifup: Device eth0 has different MAC address than expected, ignoring.

Cheers!
