I just did a clean install of proxmox on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with dual nics. I disabled the second NIC in the BIOS, and when the system boots it looks ok, but if i try to access the box from another address via https://192.168.1.x/, the host is unreachable.
If I log into the proxmox box and try to ping my router, dns server, etc, the host is also unreachable.

Doing netstat just sits there and seems to hang.

Any advice.

just a quick guess - do you plugged in the cable in the right place?
or, is your desktop in the same network (what is your IP address on the desktop).

Yes the cable is plugged into the correct place and the desktop and server are on the same network.

Unfortunately I just wiped out the server and installed xenexpress, which will do everything I need to do.

I have another Poweredge 2950 sitting here, that I will soon clean out and install proxmox and try to make it work. I am sure I will be back.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I have same problem. First time I've installed proxmox 1.3 to my PE2950 it received IP from DHCP and I've assign this IP to system but after installation's reboot I can't ping this if. On next installation it did't receive any address and I'v added it manualy but I can't access system anyway.

cat /proc/net/dev shows zeroes except lo and vmbr0 interfaces.

update: I have 1 internal nic with 2 ports and 1 external Intel with 2 ports.
after pluging cable to external nic I can ping my system.
