I have installed in a proxmox ve host a guest with windows 2003 standard. Everything works correctly.
Now I have connected the host in a different switch and I can't connect with the guest. I can connect with the proxmox ve host and the host can connect to the guest.
The switch should be ok because in this switch is connected another server with vm-ware and three guest on it working correctly.

Scenario:

PC ping to host proxmox OK
host proxmox ping guest proxmox OK
PC ping to guest proxmox NOT OK <---------------!!!!
PC ping to host VMWARE OK
PC ping to guests VMWARE OK

If I reconnect the host with the previous switch all is ok.
The difference beetween the two switch in that the first is a 100Mb/s and the second one (where I have the problem) in a 100/1000 Mb/s

anyone can help me?

Thank you!

do you have more details on your entire network configuration/szenario?

are your vmware/hosts/guest on the same vlan, trunking configured on the old switch but not on the new one, interface configuration on pve host/guest, stp configuration, ...

I'm trying to explain more clearly the situation:
I have a machine with proxmox and a virtual machine with Windows Server 2003 (guest) connected via switch 1Gbit / s.
By ping from a PC in the same LAN I can ping only the host proxmox.
Connecting the host proxmox and the pc with a different switch 10/100Mbit/s everything works fine.
Trying the same structure with VMware I have no problem in both cases.

Scenario A:

Proxmox host
(192.168.0.1)
|
|------------------------ 1Gb switch ---- PC on the LAN (192.168.0.3)
|
Windows 2003 guest
(192.168.0.2)

In this case the PC in LAN pings only the host proxmox

Scenario B:

Proxmox host
(192.168.0.1)
|
|------------------------ Switch 10/100Mb - PC on the LAN (192.168.0.3)
|
Windows 2003 guest
(192.168.0.2)

In this case, the PC on the LAN pings both host and guest

Vmware works both scenario A and scenario B.

I'have contacted the supplier of the switch and he confirmed me that there are no problem with miltiple MAC ADDRESS in the same port (vmware works).

Thank you!!
