I've installed PBX in a Flash from iso onto my HP DL360-G5 server with dual Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5708 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 12) network cards. Networking works great on my Proxmox 1.4 host, but when I setup a virtual machine in KVM, the ethernet adapter doesn't even show up in the virtual machine.

I'm wondering what network card model I should be using for the KVM setup, because I don't see any in the list that appears to be a Broadcom chipset specific. I have Realtek, Intel, and the virtio ones. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

what OS do you install (KVM guest)? PBX is based on centos, as far as I know. so all should work out of the box.

Yes PBX in a Flash is based on Centos5. All I get in it is the loopback interface.

***Edit*** I just changed the network adapter to rtl8139, and it appears to be working now. Should I use this as the default for all my KVM virtual machines? I've just started using Proxmox, so I apologize for the stupid questions.

most stable is e1000. (if you windows guests, make sure you download the latest intel drivers form www.intel.com).

which version do you use? pls provide download link to pbx iso.

So, I would use Intel drivers in my Windows machine even though I have Broadcom nics? Sorry, this is all new to me I've always used VMWare ESX or Xen for virtualization.

Here's a link to the version of PBX in a Flash that I'm using.

Thanks again for you quick replies, I've never gotten such quick responses on a forum ever.

you just select the emulated network card. so its completely unrelated to the physical network card in your server. (the same on vmware, xen, etc.).

response times? yes, we try our best. and if you like Proxmox, you can also help others by answering their questions in this forum.

The network adapter makes perfect sense now. And so far, I'm really liking proxmox's simple, lightweight administration interface, and the easy connections for iscsi targets and VM backups.

After, I have a better grasp on all Proxmox has to offer, I'll happily answer any questions, I'm equipped to answer.

Thanks again for your help.
