Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing network issues on a Windows Server 2022 VM running on a Proxmox 8.3.5 hypervisor installed on an HP G10 server. The network adapter in use is a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5719 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01).

The main symptoms include:

Intermittent packet loss (ping drops) from and to the VM.

Occasional screen freezes when accessing the VM.

CPU usage spikes during these freezes.

Has anyone encountered similar issues with this NIC or setup? Could this be a driver issue or a compatibility problem with Proxmox? Any troubleshooting steps or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I think Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5719 is very popular GbE NIC and will be saw on many server from all major vendors..
Please consider following actionsm, may can help you to find out which point caused this Intermittent packet loss issue.
1. have you checked at switch side, does have any error count happened on that port connected with G10 server's BCM5719?
2. May you can use another physical server run iperf to test with the HP DL3x0 G10 Server, then check does the Intermittent packet loss issue still happened?
3. Create another Linux VM, and run iperf again with the physical server outside, then check does the Intermittent packet loss issue still happened?

For how to use iperf, please refer to https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/...-test-available-network-bandwidth-using-iperf
