Hi Reader,

I have
1> Router [gateway= ip:225, netmask=255.255.255.240]
2> Server installed with Proxmox
3> Laptop - For connecting to Proxmox web interface

in [Server] /etc/network/interfaces I have as below,
/etc/network/interfaces
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eno8303
iface eno8303 inet manual

auto eno8403
iface eno8403 inet manual

auto vmbr0
iface vmbr0 inet static
address ip:233/28
gateway ip:225
bridge-ports eno8303 eno8403
bridge-stp off
dns-nameservers 209.67.220.220 208.67.222.222 8.8.8.8

  • I have connected my laptop to the server from LAN at eno8403 and able to access the web interface but when i try to access the vm by setting some static ip address i am not able connect to the vm.
  • Laptop ethernet settings are as follows, { ip:234, netmask=255.255.240, g/w= ip:225 , dns=set to 8.8.8.8 & 1.1.1.1}
  • I have connected server to the router from LAN eno8303 to get internet from router.
Now I need to connect to the VMs using the static ips that I provide in the vm configuration
for an example, vm configuration is as follows ip:230, netmask=255.255.255.240, gateway=ip:225 but I am not able to connect to VM.

I tried Routed network configuration of Proxmox at
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Networ... using the Linux network stack. This provides

but failed to fetch the internet in the vm!

I need help on this configuration.

Thanks for reading

Hey,

I see you have both interfaces as bridge ports, but since they are on the same network, this doesn't really have any benefit, it'll actually will probably cause problems.

You can either only use one, or configure a bond and have the second one as a backup, that would look something like this:
Code:
auto bond0
iface bond0 inet manual
    bond-slaves eno8303 eno8403
    bond-miimon 100
    bond-mode active-backup

auto vmbr0
iface vmbr0 inet static
    address <IP>.233/28
    gateway <IP>.225
    bridge-ports bond0
    bridge-stp off
    dns-nameservers 209.67.220.220 208.67.222.222 8.8.8.8

And make sure your VMs are on vmbr0, also keep in mind that on your /28 network you'll only be able to fit 14 hosts(excluding broadcast and network).
