hello,

I'am new to proxmox running version 4.0

I have the following network config:

eth0 -> vmbr0 : with public ip a.a.a.a/24 - gw: a.a.a.254
eth1 -> with nothing configured.
now i have another block of ip's b.b.b.b/29

i need to add a public ip to a win7 VM.

how is this possible with ovh as a provider ?
their email says i have to configure the vm with the following ip's
ip: b.b.b.168
mask:255.255.255.255
gw:a.a.a.254 (gw of the server of vmbr0)

i need to access the win7 machine using this public ip.

Hi,
correct you have to config it in the Win7 machine.
ip is one ip of your public one.
the netmask is 255.255.255.255
and the gw is the same like your host one on vmbr0

Hi wolfgang ,

Thanks for your prompt reply.
i have setup the win7 machine with correct ip's but i cannot access the internet and cannot ping the gateway either. the win7 network adapter
is configured as bridge to vmbr0. when i configure it as NAT it works fine.

the ip on vmbr0(eht0) is 149.xxx.xxx.21/24 & gw:149.xxx.xxx.254
i have configured win7 machine ip with 178.xxx.xxx.168/32 & gw: 149.xxx.xxx.254

still not working...

thanks for your help.

Is the routing in the WIn7 machine correct?

thanks for your prompt reply,

i checked the routing in the win7 machine. it automatically adds a refault route to the gateway.
is there any other routes i should add in the win7 guest machine.

thanks alot.
