This is the second time i upgraded my proxmox host, the first time it killed all vm's due to efi boot change in proxmox qemu package.

This time it killed the network. Proxmox GUI, ssh, everything port related was broken.

The "netmask" entry got removed from /etc/network/interfaces, my bridge ended up with a /32 subnet.

I havent done anything manual with the network, this is really frustrating. The network got created with the proxmox gui 2 months ago and has not been touched since.

I have zfs-auto-snapshot in place and can rollback, i also can troubleshoot things. But if this happpens every single update...

My experience with proxmox so far has been really bad, i also read a lot of problems other people have on the forum.

I used the proxmox gui to do the upgrade.

For reference the following packages got upgraded:
Code:
Start-Date: 2020-06-27 07:08:54
Commandline: apt-get dist-upgrade
Install: pve-kernel-5.4.44-1-pve:amd64 (5.4.44-1, automatic)
Upgrade: proxmox-widget-toolkit:amd64 (2.2-1, 2.2-8), pve-kernel-5.4:amd64 (6.2-2, 6.2-3), pve-qemu-kvm:amd64 (5.0.0-2, 5.0.0-4), pve-container:amd64 (3.1-6, 3.1-8), pve-i18n:amd64 (2.1-2, 2.1-3), ifupdown2:amd64 (2.0.1-1+pve8, 3.0.0-1+pve2), pve-manager:amd64 (6.2-4, 6.2-6), libpve-common-perl:amd64 (6.1-2, 6.1-3), qemu-server:amd64 (6.2-2, 6.2-3), libproxmox-backup-qemu0:amd64 (0.1.3-1, 0.1.6-1), pve-kernel-helper:amd64 (6.2-2, 6.2-3), ca-certificates:amd64 (20190110, 20200601~deb10u1), pve-edk2-firmware:amd64 (2.20200229-1, 2.20200531-1), lxcfs:amd64 (4.0.3-pve2, 4.0.3-pve3)
End-Date: 2020-06-27 07:10:02

This is not normal behavior.

Can you show the /etc/network/interfaces as it was after the upgrade and if you have a snapshot, how it was before the update?

I restored the network file from backup to double check, and the netmask entry was already missing before the upgrade, my bad.

Please delete the thread, thanks.
