Dear Sirs,
I am not an IT expert but have implemented a TrueNAS server using information gathered from the Internet.
Currently, we are running TrueNAS storage in the following environment.
⦁ 1 X AMD Ryzen 5 3600
⦁ 1 X MSI B550 Gaming Plus
⦁ 2 X VENGEANCE® LPX 16GB DDR4
⦁ 1 X 2GB NVIDIA Card
⦁ 1 X 128GB Kingston SSD
⦁ 4 X WD RED 10TB 3.5"
⦁ 2 X SSD Gigabyte 128GB NVMe M.2
⦁ 2 X 32GB Kingston High speed USB Flash drives
⦁ 1 X Corsair TX650M_Power Supply
⦁ 1 X TP-Link 1Gbps Network card
⦁ 1 X Antec P101 Silent Casing
# TrueNAS OS installed on 32GB Kingston USB Flash drives.
# Data in 4 X WD Red 3.5 HDDs using RAIDZ.
# 1 X 128 M.2 NVMe for LOGs
# 1 X 128 M.2 NVMe for CACHE
I have the following needs.
⦁ Install Proxmox as a virtualization environment
⦁ Setup a pfsense for network security with required virtual switches & routers.
⦁ Import currently running TrueNAS 12U6 Data Storage to a virtual TrueNAS client. Hope to get a suitable 8 port SATA expansion card and passthrough it to TrueNAS to match with future HDD expansions.
⦁ Run windows 10 OS for rendering graphics & videos remotely with Graphics card passthrough.
⦁ Few Windows Virtual Clients for remote logins.
⦁ Few Linux OS for testing
# Do I have t buy a separate video card to run the Proxmox?
# Any other recommendations to improve the system.
# Which of the following card matched my requirements?
⦁ SATA Cards for NAS HDDs
⦁ Dell H310 IT-mode 6Gbps 8-Port HBA w/ LSI 9211-8i P20 IT Mode for ZFS FreeNAS
⦁ LSI 6Gbps SAS HBA LSI 9240-8i = (9211-8I) IT Mode ZFS FreeNAS unRAID + 2* Cable
⦁ LSI 9240-8i 6Gbps SAS HBA FW 20 9211-8i IT Mode ZFS FreeNAS unRAID 2* SFF SATA
⦁ PCIe to 8 Ports SATA 3 6 Gbps SSD Converter PCI-e x1 Board Expansion Card
⦁ 5/8/10/16 Port SATA 6Gbps to PCI Express Controller Card PCIe to SATA III Adapter
⦁ PCI-E to SATA 3.0 6 Ports 6Gbps SATA III Expansion Card Board for Desktop PC
Current TruNAS implementation is as follows.
Thank you.
