Need to resize a partition where VM's are stored

Hi,

I have a 1TB drive with a lot of unused space. I tried using the lvextend command but it's saying there isn't enough free space. As you can see from the screenshot, the disk is 921.2G in size and the data partition is only 54.6 GB. How can I extend this?

what about pvs?

as for "vgs", it shows you the content/size of the volume group. You can refer to this (or many other articles on LVM structure):
https://access.redhat.com/documenta..._volume_manager_administration/lvm_definition

disks go into physical groups
physical groups go into volume groups
volumes groups get carved into logical groups

your disk may be large, but the volume group does not occupy entire space, as you can see from "vgs".
It means your partition on which "pve" VG is located is limited. You need to dig down and find where the space is, then expand each layer one by one.

Looks like you need to extend the sda3 partition to the end of the disk, as it is only 118GB instead of 873GB. Boot the system using a GParted Live CD or use gdisk /dev/sda to recreate the third partition (starting at the same sector, but extending to the end).

thats what I thought, but his first screenshot shows lsblk reporting partition at 900gb. not sure whats going on there. I would advise to go through every output again to be sure:
