Hello,

I am currently moving my movie, tv show, and book files from 2 different NTFS hard drives onto a larger ZFS storage drive. I am very familiar with Windows, but Proxmox is new to me and I am trying to learn more. I am not sure how to make this move for someone who wants to setup a full self-hosted media server. Could someone give me a hand in a very clear way, preferably using the GUI.

Thank you!

Proxmox VE with ZFS is not a FILESERVER, but you can run one in a VM or a LXC.
But no GUI is a must. so use a dedi NAS Software, e.g. TrueNAS.

I understand that it is not a file server. Do you recommend that I make a LXC with those 2 hard drives and move the files that way? I am looking for a guide or some suggestion on what to do to ensure I don't lose all that media

To move movie, TV show, and book files from NTFS drives to a ZFS storage on Proxmox for a self-hosted media server, first mount the NTFS drives in Proxmox, ensuring that ntfs-3g is installed for compatibility. Then, set up the ZFS drive in the Proxmox storage options. Use the Proxmox File Explorer or an app like Midnight Commander for file transfers. To host the media server, install Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin in a Proxmox container or VM, mounting the ZFS storage to access your media files.
