Hi there,

I currently trying to set up two vms which there own dedicated IP's however after reading my posts I even more confused on how I add my additional IP's for these VM's.

So basically I have the main box, which has it's own dedicated IP.
Then I have VM, which will have it's dedicated IP
Then I have VM2 which will have it's own dedicated IP.

My question is, is how on earth do I add the IP's to Proxmox and how on earth do I then assign them to the vm's.

I been pulling my hair out for a while now as i honestly don't understand, I am a brand new user to proxmox.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks,

I don't fully understand your scenario, but you can add the IP directly in the OS running in the VM. In most cases, there is not need to add the IP in Proxmox and "assing" it to a VM.

Give us some more details on what you are trying to setup so we may be able to give you better advice.

HI, there

I trying assigning it directly into the OS of the VM but this doesn't seem to work.

I trying to assign each VM it's own IP address so let's say I got 5 I.Ps.

For example, the main Proxmox IP is 0.0.0.1. This is fine, this works.

But I want to create two VM's with Proxmox, both are going to be centos.
VM one is for a game server, it's IP is 0.0.0.2, however I need a way to give it it's IP, I tried assigning it in the OS, but it keeps failing to connect to the network.
Then there is VM two, this is going to be a webserver so all the other I.P's I have will be assigned to this so 0.0.0.3, 0.0.0.4, 0.0.0.5 will all be assigned to this VM, but I need a way to assign them to this VM.

So as suggested in other forums posts, I add them directly into the VM's via network ui (Or via the /netowrk/interfaces via text editor in centos, but this does not work as the vm's are still unable to connect to the network, I provided their own gateways and tried main IP gateway, but still not luck.

However if I just install centos to the main box (Remove proxmox then just install centos) and add the I.Ps, there work just fine. My issue is when using proxmox and when trying to add the IP's to the VM's there just don't work. but work fine on a standalone install.

Hope this makes sense, trying to explain the best way I can.
Thanks

Please post:

- /etc/network/interfaces of the Proxmox server
- qm config of each VM

Is that Proxmox server co-located or rented in a provider?
Are those IP local ones by RFC1918 or are Internet routable addreses?
