I am attempting to use a pci passthrough gpu (ndvida quatro p400) on a windows 10 vm. I've used this card on a linux vm before, but in a different manner, but I am mentioning that to note that I have gone through the passthrough steps, and was successful.
The linux system used the card for video editing. It was never set as the primary gpu, as I only ever had to remote into it, and work from there.
On the windows 10 system, I dont want to remote in. I want to connect a monitor on an output on the gpu so that I can display the system.
So far, I am able to see the windows 10 system load up on the monitor, but it doesn't seem to be dedicated. The proxmox host seems to still be using it as a display, as it has a cursor mark, and is writing text ouput all over the screen.
I edited the vfio.conf file as described in the walkthrough to prevent the host from taking the card, but it did not seem to work. One of the walk throughs said to add disable_vga=1 onto the vfio file, but this only results in the display not being able to be used at all by any vm.
Has anyone ever attempted this and been successful?
