Hey folks...

We are having 6 nodes here.

Each node is having local storage (that we can use for backup) and also we are having shared storage (a lot of storage)

So the idea is ...

- Is it a good idea to install PBS directly on each host so we can use the local storage AND also create a VM of PBS to use the shared storage
OR
- we should create ONE VM of PBS per host for the local storage AND one VM for the shared storage ?
OR
- we should create ONE VM for PBS that will use shared storage only?

Each host is having near 1TB of free local storage that we can use for backups... and our shared storage is near 200 TB free...

thanks

It depends. Is 1TB sufficient to keep enough backups of your VMs? Is the shared storage fast enough for your backups?
You could install two PBS VMs and check out how remotes work and if synchronisation would be something for you.

I just created a second VM for PBS, and I create a remote from our PBS01 -> PBS02, then I create a sync job...

But when I run the job I got :
2021-01-18T09:54:20-05:00: found 0 groups to sync

EDIT: Ohhh it's the opposite.... it's PBS02 that need to remote to PBS01 to "fetch" data...

Yeah remote PBS seems to work fine...

Can we just install PBS on each PVE host directly from the command line ?
So then, all our PVE host will act as a "PBS" also and I will create a VM for our main PBS...
