Hi everybody,

Today I had build a promox VE server and I want to deport the virtual machines to a openfiler server with NFS support. The problem is to deport /dev/data I can't deleted it and after create de LVM to install openfiler with /data tree structure. The lvm will contain virtual images in order to lunch VM on the openfiler server through the promox server

proxmox server => openfiler server => VM

Best regards

Thanks

too confusing for me.

do you install openfiler on extra box or do you wanna run openfiler as a KVM guest on the Proxmox VE host?

I run openfiler as a KVM guest on the promox server.
Okay, so you want to run af KVM machine where the image file is located on a NFS share which is located on an Openfiler installation that runs on top a Proxmox installation?
If you want a NFS share and don't have any hardware to spare I can recommend installing the nfs kernel server package directly on the Proxmox server and define the NFS share there instead of the double virtualization you're heading for now.
I saw another post where Tom or Dietmar said it's no good idea to configure a Proxmox server as a NFS share server but I can guarantee it will perform better and be at least as stable as your solution with Openfiler as NFS server on top Proxmox.
