What it says on the tin. I've been trying to get GPU passthrough set up and in the guides closest to my case I see recommendations to edit the <VMID>.conf directly. When I edit settings in the webUI (in this case adding a PCI device) are those settings pushed directly into the same file? Or is there something more complicated going on? Couldn't find a quick answer on the wiki but if I overlooked something please just point me to it.

PCIe passthrough was considered easier by editing the file but as time has passed, it is supported within the WebUI.
