Is this error normal?

Any ideas where sdf is configured? I only have 5 drive in the chassis (sda to sde)
 
Last time I saw this message it was due to a 'virtual drive' passed through from the system's IPMI/iDRAC/iLO/...
if your system has such a OOB-management - check it's settings ...
usually you should be able to identify it by checking dmesg (or journalctl -b) and looking for lines around 'sdf'

Ah good call on the dmesg

It gave me the SCSI ID and that appears to be for Generic Storage Driver (SD Card Slot)

I guess proxmox wants to open check the media even when its empty.
