As a new Proxmox user, I've been "playing around" trying to optimize my small setup. One of the things that required moving a few times storage-wise (as I was discovering better ways to do things) was my MySQL server.
When I did that, the server became unresponsive (and the services relying on it were erroring out, naturally). The DBs total around 50GB, not huge by any modern standards.
Is there something specific about MySQL I need ot know, or a strategy to configure this properly? Or should I simply consider moving the SQL VM as a "maintenance window" thing only?
Various relevant specs:
- 10Gb NETWORK for migration
- A LOT of RAM (256Gb per machine, 10% used when the migration was done)
- CPU hovers at 1%-5%
- In some cases, the disks was going from NFS/HDD to Local SSDS, sometimes the other way, sometimes from a node to another both with local SSD. In all cases I saw similar behavior.
EDIT - I forgot to specify clearly I was running MariaDB (not Mysql, but I don't think this matters) as a VM, not a container.
