Hi.
Just need to know/understand how datastore is handled in PBS, can i install a fresh PBS and connect it to a datastore which was used by an other PBS server and will this gain access to the backups stored on this datastore?

Just need to know how important the system disk is, can i restore a storage without the system disk?

Thank You

Yes, that will work, but you have to manually edit the datastore.cfg config file as import of datastores isn't added to PBSs CLI/GUI/API yet.

Won't pbs import the datastore if the .chunks folder already exists during creation of the datastore?

I think he means the config options as how many backups to keep etc is not imported, but the backups itself are?!?!??!

I mean that you manually need to add a new datastore pointing to the folder of your old datastore. PBS will then use it, but you need to tell it where to look for it and how to use it. That can't be done using the GUI, you will have to add the lines manually in the datastore.cfg.

OK, understood, will try this virtually before real life :)
