Move EFI disk fails on between (RBD storage and RBD storage) or (RBD storage and lvm-thin) while VM is running

Oddly, I've noticed that mine move, but it crashes the vm midway through the move, and once it gets to the other side, I have to then reboot it.

I Have this same problem, moving EFI disk from NFS storage to CEPH storage. Error is:

TASK ERROR: storage migration failed: block job (mirror) error: drive-efidisk0: 'mirror' has been cancelled

+1 ... I need to clone a crucial running VM. 100% failure when it attempts to make a mirror of the EFI disk. (This makes no sense to me... isn't the EFI partition only used during boot?)

Moving EFI between different Storage-Types still fails.

Can move EFI from ZFS to SMB (RAW) while VM is online. But back is not possible. Had to shutdown VM.

Still no real solution?

Just ran into this on 7.4-16 while trying to clone a running VM with source and target on the same Ceph/rbd pool ...

create full clone of drive efidisk0 (pool0:vm-101-disk-0)
drive mirror is starting for drive-efidisk0
drive-efidisk0: Cancelling block job
drive-efidisk0: Done.
Removing image: 100% complete...done.
TASK ERROR: clone failed: block job (mirror) error: drive-efidisk0: 'mirror' has been cancelled

@proxmox Team is it possible to give us some hint like 'may be fixed in the future' or 'WONTFIX'?

This is a really annoying 'problem' / QOL thing.

There's a bug report [1] with technical information about why this happens and why isn't trivial to solve it. Add your thoughts, use cases and examples in the bug report so Proxmox team can prioritize it and hopefully get it sorted.
