Hello everybody,

I would like to mount a host directly inside a Windows guest without using a network share. The idea is for the folder to appear as a native drive to the Windows VM so that I could host a Samba server using the Windows VM without having to run it on the Proxmox host.

I have already found this issue: https://github.com/virtio-win/kvm-guest-drivers-windows/issues/126 but it seems that VirtIO-FS would create a drive that would appear as a network drive on Windows.

Is it possible to do this any other way?

Thank you

I understand that, however using a Windows server for SMB seems much simpler than having the host machine join the domain of a VM for the Samba server on the host machine to use it. I am running AD on the Windows VM to use it for user auth for both SMB and RADIUS through the network policy server. Also it would allow me to use services such as Backblaze's personal backup to backup my NAS.
