Hello guys,

I would like to know if it is possible to make monthly and non-daily backups with Proxmox Backup Server?

Thank You

Hi,
since PBS doesn't pull in backups, this depends on the client. You just need to set up a monthly cron job or systemd timer that runs your proxmox-backup-client command.
In case you're talking about integration in PVE, it's currently not possible to set up a schedule that's less than weekly without manual editing. But we are working on it. In the meantime you'll either have to edit the schedule for an existing job in /etc/pve/vzdump.cron or create your own vzdump cron job.

Hi. I try to set timer backups in Proxmox-backup-client but i have no idea to do it. Can you explain it more clearly ?
Thank you so much !

You cannot do so directly in proxmox-backup-client, you need to have something that executes the command according to a schedule. Tools for that are cron (also take at look at existing jobs in /etc/cron.d where you most likely want to put your own too) and systemd-timers.

if you want to backup PVE guests, the easiest way is to set up a job via the PVE web UI and then manually edit the schedule in /etc/pve/vzdump.cron to make it less frequent. Please note that you won't be able to see/edit the jobs via the web UI afterwards. We're also planning on making schedules less restrictive in the UI in a future release.

Thanks for the info. I also wanted to chime in that I am looking for a feature in the WEB UI where I can do once a month instead of once a week.

I have like 50 containers, and some of them don't need to be backed up weekly, once a month would be fine.

For instance I have some containers that use in memory databases. I had to disable the backups on it because it made too difficult to use it the way that I want to.
