Missing /etc/pve file system

Hello.

I am having an issue with one of my systems and when I run vzlist I get:

Unable to open /etc/pve/openvz/100.conf: No such file or directory
CTID NPROC STATUS IP_ADDR HOSTNAME
100 199 running 188.64.186.71 -

I then check /etc/pve and notice that its empty. I guess this is due to not being able to start the pve-cluster service as follows:

:/boot# /etc/init.d/pve-cluster restart
Restarting pve cluster filesystem: pve-clusterstart-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 671439: No such process
[main] notice: unable to aquire pmxcfs lock - trying again
[main] crit: unable to aquire pmxcfs lock: Resource temporarily unavailable
[main] notice: exit proxmox configuration filesystem (-1)
(warning).

I then noticed when I ran apt-get update it had failed, so I ran: dpkg --configure -a

The issue is that now, its stuck at:

root@moon7:/# dpkg --configure -a
Setting up pve-cluster (1.0-32) ...
Restarting pve cluster filesystem: pve-clusterstart-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 671439: No such process
[main] notice: unable to aquire pmxcfs lock - trying again
[main] crit: unable to aquire pmxcfs lock: Resource temporarily unavailable
[main] notice: exit proxmox configuration filesystem (-1)
(warning).
invoke-rc.d: initscript pve-cluster, action "restart" failed.
dpkg: error processing pve-cluster (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255
Setting up pve-kernel-2.6.32-16-pve (2.6.32-82) ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-16-pve

Also within my system log I keep getting the following error:

Jan 9 17:18:38 moon7 pvestatd[676978]: WARNING: ipcc_send_rec failed: Connection refused

Has anyone had this issue before and can help with a fix?

It won't seem to finish and fix the update?

Hello.

I am not actually using any other servers within cluster, this is a single system setup.

I don't understand why I would have communications issues when I am not using it in this way.

Maybe an instance of 'pmxcfs' is still running? Maybe you still have open files from /etc/pve/ (check with lsof))?
Kill that instance and restart.

If nothing helps, reboot the node.
