First post, so I apologize if this is in the incorrect format or wrong place. I've done some searching, but I haven't really had much luck. That being said, what are the minimum OS/Kernel versions that PVE supports for its VMs? Does it support as low as Windows Server 2008 and Debian 4/Kernel 2.6.24? We're wanting to use PVE to migrate some Xen 32-bit VMs to 64-bit and increase their OS versions to something more recent, but would like to do it by importing them directly into PVE and upgrading from there.

Thank you in advance for your time.

For such old Linux installations you would pretty sure need to use QEMU guests (containers won't work) - but apart from that that should work!
(you will most likely need to use legacy disk interfaces (IDE and SATA, (or SCSI with a different controller) and network interfaces (intel/realtek) instead of virtio.
This will make the whole guest quite a bit slower.

Maybe it would be easier to setup a new guest and then migrate the necessary services over...

I hope this helps!

You can also put those old legacy systems into containers. I was able to run Debian 3.0 woody inside of LXC as a test. I also have currently a Debian 4 Etch system in a VM and it works.
Another approach is to virtualize your old hypervisor in PVE, which could work (depending on your hypervisor and your hardware).
