Is it possible to move backups to another node, those that correspond to a VM migrated?

My situation is such that I am switching to another host and migrating the VMs one by one. Eventually the old host will be shut down, however I'd rather keep the backups created before the migration. Right now I have the VMs migrated to a new host, but the backups are stored on the old one.

Depending on how and where you store your backups, you could just copy (nfs/scp) the entire backup location to new server and point the backup/storage definition there. As the backup location is self-contained - PVE will read in the existing data as long as you placed it there properly.
